The camera is a tool to get me out of the house and explore the world. I have the privilege of entering the lives of many different people, who enrich my life and broaden my horizons.
As a photographer I have shared the life with many indigenous people like the First Nations in Canada and most recently the Mapuche in Chile. For my diploma work I documented the life of the Roma in Hungary. It is truly a great joy to be with these people.
I try to capture the moment, the light and the atmosphere.
For more than 15 years I taught photography at the University of Osnabrück, where I promoted creativity and new ways to explore the medium. Passing on my knowledge and experiences has been very fulfilling.
Today I work mainly for commercial clients and on personal projects.
Wildlife photography is something very new for me. There is nothing more exciting than to be out there in nature.
Creating videos like “When the tap runs dry” gives me the chance to tell stories with moving images and audio.
In 2021 I published the film “Alt werden ist nichts für Feiglinge”, a video about getting older. My recent documentary film “Schlüp’n Werners fotografische Schatzkisten” is about the photographic estate of Werner Schlüpmann.
During my free time I work as a volunteer miller in a 300 year old water mill.
